Yes, it’s true, really true. Another Facebook update. I can assure you that you’re not reading, The Onion.
Beginning late last week, you may have looked at your Facebook Brand Page’s recently updated Timeline format and thought, “hmmmm, something looks off.”
If these thoughts crossed your mind, you were right. Facebook quietly announced a profile image update by sending an email only to Brand Page owners opted-in to Facebook communication.
If you read my recent blog post where I described what you need to know in regard to the new Facebook Timeline, the info is still valid. But, if you took advantage of the awesome and creative ways to integrate your cover image with your profile image (and why wouldn’t you?) like Ecreativeworks did on our Facebook Page, you’ll have to make some tweaks.
The Changes
Up until last week, Facebook profile images were 120 x 120 pixels. Now, Facebook’s Timeline Format Profile Images (for both personal profiles and brand pages) is 160 x 160 pixels. Keep in mind that Facebook technically allows images to be uploaded that are 180 x 180 pixels, but will automatically resize the images to 160 x 160 pixels.
How Can It Be Fixed?
The trick in adjusting all of the work you or your poor designer put in, is to know that the profile image’s larger size is now located 23 pixels form the left and exactly 201 pixels from the top of the page.
Have you taken advantage of the creative ways in which you can incorporate your profile and cover image?
