In the wake of the private invite-only launch of the new Google+ social network, Facebook has already begun implementing some of the Google+ features that Facebook lacked — notably video chat and group chat. Since the launch of their new social network, Google+, Google has been flooded with people signing up to try it out. This has led to a lot of questions and demands about features that are not yet implemented in their “field trial,” including the ability to make profile pages to promote your company. Google has just confirmed that you will, when it’s ready, be able to make business profiles to promote your company.
Google is firing on all social cylinders this summer in an integrated assault on social media. Their latest is the integration of the Google+1 button with Google Webmaster Tools, allowing you to track the total number of people who have +1’d any of your pages, and display a page by page breakdown.
Google has just announced the test-phase launch of it’s much-anticipated third attempt to enter the online social network market. Unlike previous failures, Google+ looks well-constructed, easy to use, and offers significant improvements to the social network experience. Whether it has what it takes to topple Facebook is probably largely dependent on Facebooks ability to respond to Google+.
New search engine startup Blekko has released a new feature they’re calling 3 Engine Monte. This feature allows you to make any search with a /monte slashtag after it and pull up three columns of results: one from Blekko, Google, and Bing. You only find out which is which after choosing which you think has the best results.
